The public symposium and corresponding exhibition are dedicated to different ways of dealing with texts and writing practices in an art context. In the exchange between artists and authors, transitions and interferences in the writing and staging of a text become visible. In addition to the relationship between visual art and literature, five panel discussions will focus on other relationships, such as institutional, technological, and poet(ological) ones, all of which have implications for the possible futures of writing.

What place can writing have at art colleges? When is it an accompanying medium of reflection, and when is it an independent form of artistic expression? On the opening night, artists and authors who have each found their own way to literary practice and bring different experiences with ‘schools of writing’ will discuss these questions.

This panel brings together textual articulation with questions of its design. What means are used to write a text, how is it contextualized in publishing and editorial decisions, and how is it shaped by its (typo)graphic design? The discussion explores the modeling of the social and cultural environment through writing.
